What Is the Hardest Part of Grocery Shopping?

I know that some people actually enjoy the experience of grocery shopping, but I have a problem. Let me explain.

I don’t know about you, but I’m not particularly fond of grocery shopping – for several reasons, some of which include:

I lose a few hours of my time that I could be using for other, more fun, activities like doing laundry or washing dishes.

I feel compelled to spend the next half hour cleaning the fridge out before I put the new food in there.

Then I feel guilty about all the food I just threw away from the last shopping trip!

The very worst part of grocery shopping, though? The part that makes me break out in a cold sweat before I even leave the house? The fruit and vegetable aisle.

I start getting anxious a few aisles away. I tell myself “this time it will be better”. I try to stay positive. The very first time I pick up an apple and go to put it into one of those flimsy, tissue paper- thin plastic bags, I realize I’m wrong. It’s not better this time. Why, oh why, can’t I open these bags? What is wrong with me? I try to peel it apart… nothing. I rub it between my fingers and thumb… nothing. I try both hands… nothing. I look around, just knowing that people are staring at me, judging me, because I can’t open the bag. The ONLY way that I have found to make it work is to use water. I can’t lick my fingers and do it, though, because my fingers have now touched every single germ in the entire store. What to do? Here’s my solution to this problem.

Grab a bunch of bags, separate them into individual bags, and saunter over to the refrigerated section of the produce department. T­­ry to be casual about it; pick up a pepper, examine it, pick up something else. Try not to look creepy. Wait for the automatic sprinklers to come on and stick your hands under it to get them completely wet. Grab your individual bags, open them all at once and calmly finish your business of produce shopping.

You will have to visit many shops before you encounter the large selection you will find inside the average experienced online diamond vendor’s store. The average jeweler usually only carries a fraction of the diamonds in a physical location in comparison. I would estimate the average jewelry shop would have around a handful of dozen (usually less) loose diamonds of noteworthy size (noteworthy, I use a relatively strict definition of about 0.50 carats). The selection of less than a hundred compared to the thousands you would find online is where the online selection shows the largest advantage. The larger selection allows for the potential buyers to have a much easier time finding exactly the diamond that they might want, whereas if the client is inclined to buy in a retail store, the situation will often end with the buyer settling for a diamond slightly different than he might have wanted.

Quantitative and Qualitative Appeal

A satisfied person has no story to tell.” Stories are important in articulating the who, what, when, where, and how of the patient or consumer experience. The right brain approach to mystery shopping allows clients to clearly discern the difference between a completely satisfactory experience and all the various facets that went into it, and those elements of an experience that triggered displeasure or frustration. At the same time, healthcare mystery shopping is an effective compliance tool. Standards that are specific to the healthcare industry, and therefore can be benchmarked, are mixed with organizationally specific standards to create a quantitative amalgam that can be data spliced in any way necessary. Healthcare mystery shopping primarily answers the following question – How well does your organization perform on the behaviors and processes you told your people are important? In addition, it lets organizations measure those standards against perception-based goals.

The Flexibility of Healthcare Mystery Shopping

We as a parent need to turn our attention away from the TV and the computer and focus more on each other individuals, Reading books, going to parks, spending time with friends and family etc. Instead of giving children medication and sending them to more doctors and therapists, we should reduce the number of electronics that are running their everyday lives. People need contact with other people in order to lead a happy, healthy life. Basically it is the parents’ responsibility to monitor what their children watch and how often they play video games and access the Internet. Next, the government should really regulate laws to reduce inappropriate TV, Internet or video game contents. There should be an access control device in any inappropriate TV or Internet content not only for children but also for adults.

Pros and Cons of Internet Marketing AB Testing

What would happen if we change one simple element of our landing page? How about we add more text or change our pricing? What will happen? These are hypothetical situations that partners and spouses who run businesses together will argue over endlessly and there is absolutely no reason for it. In internet marketing you can have your cake and eat it too. There are some very simple ways to find out what works and what doesn’t. The question is which method to use to get the most useful results.

Enter the world of A/B testing. It’s a concept that’s been around longer than the internet has. It was used with direct mailers to test different offers and designs. It’s been tried in newspaper, magazine and even on billboards in the past to measure response rates. On the internet it’s more technologically advanced but the goal is still the same. Measure two similar products or offers against each other and see which one is going to make you more money.

The pros and cons of A/B testing are also the same as they have always been. In order for the test to produce a true result you can only change one element. Offering two entirely different home pages to the world may tell you which one converts better but it won’t tell you why. The answer you really want to get with A/B testing is which element of the design change is producing the result. A simple color change, additional content, or a price change is a good factor to test in an A/B set-up but all three at once won’t allow you to track which of those is making the difference.

Another drawback to A/B testing is it doesn’t give you any behavioral data. You can run two home pages with a different price on them and track how many units of product sell for each amount but you still will not know why. What is the reason that visitors will buy a product for $40 but not pay $50 for it? What if the result is the opposite and more units sell at the higher price? Is that enough data to make a decision to increase your prices across the board? If you don’t know why the higher price was more successful, that increase could cost you dearly in the long run.

On the pro side, A/B testing is most useful when it is used with other tests that measure elements like behavior, demographics, and economic climate. What works today may not work tomorrow when everyone’s financial situation is a little better (or worse). Knowing why people do what they do is the most valuable piece of information you as an internet marketer can have. Set up a series of tests and pool your results to get a feel for what your market is doing. Call it A through Z testing. It’s far more effective than just a simple A/B.

3 Weird But True Internet Laws

There are all kinds of internet laws; good ones, bad ones, and some that are just plain weird. The weird but true internet laws are what we are going to focus on today. These three laws come from all around the world, and can really make you shake your head in wonder at the sheer insanity of it all.

#1: It is illegal in the State of Tennessee (USA) to post/send “distressing” images using the internet

Yes, you heard that correctly. As of mid-2011 it is illegal to “transmit or display an image” anywhere online that is likely (yes, likely) to “frighten, intimidate, or cause emotional distress” to anyone who sees it. Yes, anyone, regardless of whether or not the person in question was the target of the image. This takes the crown for most ridiculous internet laws ever made! Under this law, anyone, from anywhere in the world, can see an image, and no matter what that image is depicting, or if the uploader even had an ulterior motive for posting it, if the image can be traced back to its user, they could face up to a year in jail and over two-thousand dollars in fines.

#2: It is illegal to own an “unregistered” modem in Burma

The Burmese government takes the internet very seriously… so much so that they have a stranglehold on internet access all throughout the country. Internet access is limited by means of hardware and software restrictions, i.e. unregistered modems. Visitors from outside of the country may bring a single laptop computer in with them, but it will have to be declared upon arrival, and it is safe to assume that every mouse click you make with it is being carefully watched.

#3: In Uxbridge, Ontario it’s illegal to have an internet connection faster than 56k!

This is a popular favorite online and can be validated in a number of places. This is one of those strange cases of severely out-dated laws that are still technically enforceable. It is comical to think of a place where it is illegal to have an internet connection that is faster than dial-up! Out of these three weird internet laws, this one has to win the award for most absurd.

And these are just the tip of the iceberg; there are many other strange but true internet laws on the books all around the world that make many people sit back and wonder what the heck these lawmakers were thinking when they wrote them and made them into law.

Benefits of Getting a Product on Home Shopping Channels

Getting a product on QVC (or getting a product on HSN or other home shopping networks) is a goal for many companies and/or inventors. In fact, for many companies or products, it’s one of the biggest steps they can take.

But why is this so? Especially in this day and age of mass media and websites, where something like television is seemingly diminished. Why is it such an overriding goal to be on home shopping channels?

The answers are several, and I’ll go over a few huge benefits to getting your product on TV.

The first benefit, obviously, is massive exposure. QVC, HSN, and other home shopping networks comprise some of the largest television networks on the planet, and have an eager, enthusiastic audience. While much commercial television has seen a steep decline over the past decade, the home shopping networks remain both relevant and strong. Their audiences have favorite hosts, favorite product types, and are regular viewers. And most importantly, they have money to spend.

The second benefit is a huge influx of sales. This huge audience that the home shopping networks command is an audience that buys. Hundreds or (even thousands) of sales per segment are quite common. In fact, there’s no single sales tool quite as effective as a slot on a home shopping channel (plus, don’t forget that all the home shopping networks have massive websites as well, and do online marketing quite well – I just got a “check out these offers” e-mail from QVC as I’m typing this.)

Another side benefit to all of this exposure is being seen by specific, important people – like buyers for chains. Don’t think for one minute that buyers from retail chains aren’t watching home shopping channels. They are watching, and this often gives them insight on not only new products, but also what type of products audiences respond to best. Getting your product into a retail chain can be hard, but if you are on QVC (et al) first, it becomes a lot easier.

So we have exposure and sales, the two most important aspects to most companies. What else is there? How about a chance to hone your own sales skills and pitch? When YOU are on camera, you are doing the selling (with help from the host, of course). But this really lets you show your sales chops, and your enthusiasm for your product. I realize not everyone will embrace this part, but for a certain type of entrepreneur, this kind of selling can be invaluable.

To wrap this up, the simple premise is this: Getting a product on TV can be richly rewarding, in more ways than one.
